St. Mary's Island is a cluster of four small islands off the coast of Malpe. What makes it truly special are its striking hexagonal basalt rock formations, which are estimated to have formed millions of years ago when Madagascar was attached to India.
Recognized as one of the National Geological Monuments of India, the island features pristine beaches draped in white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it an idyllic half-day escape.

Getting There & Itinerary
Ferries depart regularly from the Malpe fishing harbour, which is just a 5-minute walk from Ivory by Shore. The boat ride takes about 15-20 minutes.
- Morning (9:30 AM): Walk to the Malpe jetty and board the first ferry of the day before the crowds.
- Exploration (10:00 AM - 12:30 PM): Spend your time exploring the basalt formations and tide pools.
- Return (1:00 PM): Catch the ferry back to Malpe just in time for a traditional coastal lunch at the Shanty.
Note: The island is closed during the heavy monsoon months (June-September) for safety.
